Is it ethical for a parent to lock small children’s hair? Is it fair to the child? I am in the middle of the road on this one. For some strange reason I feel like you need to be of age to make that decision yourself. Maybe around 14 or older is a good balanced age. I think small children who are going to kindergarten and grade school are a little too young to understand what they mean, how they are viewed in mainstream America and to defend themselves maturely. I will admit they are more excepted today but there are still people and organizations that take issue with those who have locked hair. On the flip side they are as free from responsibility and free from the labors of the workforce. So in that regard I am ok with it. Maybe I am ok with the whole thing to some degree but I just don’t think it is fair for defenseless children to have to react to something that they do not truly understand.
