This retwist is about a 8 days old. These days I have been wearing them in a pull back style to keep cool and to keep my locs from falling over in my face. This works for me.

These days I am loving my dreads. So much so that I am taking more.liberties than I was when I first got them. I love letting the water run through them when I shower. I’m not afraid of the rain or do I care as much about sweating. Though its because of sweating that I rinse.
On liberties. I think in my heart I am a free former. ( a free former will let their dreads grow without much care for keeping them kept). I think I would semi free form if things were different…job wise. But anyway that’s not important right now. Just a thought…
Today I got an expected piece of news! My loctician, V, told me that I was 98% locked. We hugged at that point. I almost felt like I was expected to give an acceptance speech. I mean I made it. I endured the itchiness, direct and indirect criticism, mood swings from liking my hair and the courage to start the journey in the first place. But no speech and no award, I am just left with a feeling of accomplishment and perseverance. perseverance is a big word for locking ones hair but it is the right word. If you knew me you’d know that I am fickle at times and don’t stick with the same thing (whatever it is) long. When things go long I like to change avenues, strategies or even careers so growing my hair in this unique way definitely left me with my doubts whether I wanted to continue. Granted those thoughts didn’t last long, nevertheless, they were there. So cheers to me! Toasting to the feeling of change and being unafraid to break away from my traditional (signature) bald look!
Well it is not how I would have planned it. You know my 1st professional picture with me and a locked style but as planning things go, nothing goes as planned.
So here I am in the longest waiting line in America. Walmart has nothing on Uncle Sam’s clubhouse. Six Flags lines can’t compare. Though I wish I could use their flash pass here. But here’s what I noticed. If you want to get out of here quick don’t be sensible about it and come as soon as you can. Procrastinate, run your errands (I did). I left for 45 minutes only to walk in to the counter to be seen. Why I am still here is another story. But yeah, take care of your business because there is one thing you can count on. Uncle Sam is not paying for any overtime to his employees! Not that his employees are dying to see you, so count on getting out of here quicker if you come close to closing but not after they stop letting people in.
Hey yo unc? Why do you abuse the do righters! The people who plan to get here early so that they may have a productive day? No one wants to waste a day at the DMV. After all, you don’t have funnel cakes, water rides or Mr. Freeze (the best ride at Six Flags) so do the early and late birds a favor. Speed up your lines, be efficient and lead by example. You are after all representing America and how the country is ran.
Whew! How did I get on that! Picture day (Stay focused)! I am ready! Now I am excited about a government picture, that’s when you know I am ready to go!
