It has been said that getting dreads are life changing. A friend told me that people respond to those with dreadlocks in a way that is different from traditional hairstyles. When he told me that it felt like a fraternity. I felt like I was that man in black with midnight glossed shades and an ear piece. He made the complete transition seem special and I was special to have made the trip. I listened intently as he went on about those who hadn’t made the journey but revered how his locks. He was exotic, at least in their eyes. I was a regular, at least compared to him. Well its true. I had no dreadlocks, no mane to show that I was an alpha male in the pride. He was an old lion, roaring still. I was at best a tourist.
